THE WINDSURFING - CLUB MISTRAL

Club Mistral is one of our most highly respected partners. Nowhere else will you find such consistently high levels of service, professionalism and equipment! With 18 windsurfing, 11 kitesurfing and 5 surfboard riding centres worldwide, they are one of the leading companies in this industry. The staff are generally a colourful mix of personalities from diverse nationalities and cultures: “We create an optimum environment for our guests and attach importance to close co-operation with local organizations in a wide range of countries.” The success of Club Mistral is based on the collaboration of a knowledgeable and responsible team consisting of creative people with lots of imagination and an outstanding sense of humour.

The Mistral centre is open year around except for September. The Windsurf and Kite centre is based in the centre of the main bay of Santa Maria. As the wind blows side-offshore from the left, it is slightly gusty in the bay. If you enter the water right in front of the centre, you can reach two wave spots directly with your board. So you are spoilt for choice: one spot upwind, one spot downwind, or maybe the flat-water section right in front of your nose after all. The solution: take the lot, because it's all on offer here!!

As well as running all levels of courses Mistral also offer an excellent Unlimited Instruction Programme consisting of 3 sessions per day of different aspects from waterstarting to gybes. The beginners' unit is held at 9 a.m., when the wind is not so strong. The units for windsurfers with low-to-intermediate skills takes place at 11 a.m. and at 1 p.m.; at 3 p.m. the unit for advanced windsurfers takes place, as the wind is really strong by then (wind force: 7 - 8). Due to the ideal conditions the average learning curve is astonishingly steep.
