The picturesque town of Teos is ideal for windsurfing families, located south of Izmir in the direction of Ephesus. There are plenty of activities for children and adults. The kids clubs will look after youngsters aged 4 and above for most of the day, leaving the adults to windsurf… scuba dive… mountain bike… relax by the pool … or take a sightseeing trip to Ephesus. New for 2005 the windsurf centre is running its own Family Club, with a wide programme of activities for children from 3 years upwards.
The wind in Teos normally blows from the northern end of the large bay. It is the meltemi wind so is strongest in Summer and can blow all day and night. Typical strengths are between Force 4 and 6.
Teos has a very large sailing area. In front of the centre is a small bay with some shallow areas and a beach downwind. This is ideal for instruction, learning to waterstart and beginners. One tack upwind and you are out into the large bay with different sailing areas. There is a small island upwind that creates a flat speed strip with some quite steep chop on one side. You can also go cruising upwind and investigate other bays.
Excursions away from the beach at Teos can include mountain bikes and the Centre will organize some excellent rides. They also have 2 catamarans and can also offer wakeboarding and water-skiing for light wind days. Available at the hotel are 4 tennis courts, a dive centre, aerobics classes, fitness room and table tennis. The historical site of Ephesus is well worth a visit.
Evenings are mostly hotel based, relaxing over dinner on the terrace overlooking the bay with the complimentary wine. There is also entertainment in the large bar area or amphitheatre (high season only) run by the busy animation team. Just outside the hotel are a few local bars for a change.
