THE TEAM

ADAM: (WINDSURF TRAVEL CONSULTANT)

After working as a windsurf instructor at the local centre in Hove since I was a Grom, a move to Planet Windsurf was a new experience and daunting at first. However everyone made me as comfortable as possible and taught me the ways of the trade. I am now sharing my extensive knowledge of windsurfing destinations and the industry passing it on to our clients and putting it to good use.

My windsurfing career has led me to travel to and compete in some amazing locations in the UK and abroad. Once a regular face on the UK wave contest scene I have since been concentrating on the more recreational side of sailing, and more importantly having fun on the water. In my travels I have been to Fuertaventura numerous times in both the summer and winter, Tarifa in Spain, Cabarete in the Dominican Republic, Ireland, the small island of Tiree in Scotland, and countless trips to Cornwall on a good forecast.

JAMES (KITESURF TRAVEL CONSULTANT)

I worked outside the UK for 6 years within the travel and leisure industry in the French Alps and New Zealand. I decided to base in the UK in 2002.

A passion for kite surfing, led me to the instructors course in 2001 then to spend more money than I make following the best wind around the world to some of the most amazing locations there are (still features pretty heavily in my lifestyle) recently I've been fortuitous enough to combine travel with work and continue the affair.

I'm privilged to have travelled to and kited some of the most amazing spots in the world. If you'd like some honest opinions and some first hand information I'd be glad to pass it on.

STEVE (DIVE TRAVEL CONSULTANT)

My first ever job was on a Red Sea Liveaboard - back in the good 'ol' days when when there was three hotels in Naama Bay and the walk from the Fayrouz to the bar at Sanafir was through the desert and the scorpions. Since then I have moved up the ladder joining the first ever Instructor course to be held at the Red Sea College (and have never been the same since). Constantly seeking new challenges I became the youngest Skipper in the area. After 6 years almost entirely underwater I decided to head for the mountains and spent 6 months touring the Himalayas on an Enfield with a pair of flying googles strapped to my head. Since then I have taught and Skippered my way up and down and back up the East Coast of Africa visiting Mauritius, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Pemba , Yemen, Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt, Israel, Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Italy, France, Bulgaria, North Carolina, Brazil and Thailand.

After skippering a Tug on the South Coast of England I felt there was nowhere left to go with that career path and have since hung up my oilies for a pair of Knitwoven slippers and a very beautiful lady, so if its first hand knowledge of these areas you want then ask for me.

ANITA (DIVE TRAVEL CONSULTANT)

We are eagerly awaiting Anita's details....check back soon :)

PATRICIA (ADMIN / ACCOUNTS)

I come from the North of Spain and I'm here for three months to do my placement. This is my first job abroad, but not the last one that I'm going to look for... With this new experience, I hope to improve my English knowledge and, of course to learn how it is the British companies way of working, that it seems to be really different from the Spanish one; I want also to learn a lot about the life style in this country and interchange customs.

I like very much the work that I'm doing here; it's very interesting and exciting. For me these Diving, Kitesurfing and Windsurfing world is really new, motivating, the reason why I think so is that these sports are a little bit risky and I think that life is so boring without some risk and adventure. I'm really happy, because this experience is going to teach me many aspects of the life that I didn't know. When I was a child I have been abroad, but only for a few weeks each time (on exchange or on holidays) and I have never left Europe and that is something that I wish to do as soon as I can, I want to visit countries like: Thailand, Indonesia, Japan and India for example and now that I'm in this company my wishes of travelling become bigger and bigger each day.

SANDRA (OFFICE MANAGER & WINDSURF / KITESURF CONSULTANT)

Seventeen years in the travel industry (yes I started when I was four..) and I am ready for anything you can throw at me….
All those years of putting in the hours of travelling to some special places have given me the inspiration to make Planet in to a programme for people who love to travel. And follow the wind of course.
With past jobs including scuba-diving holidays, skiing, escorted tours to Egypt and tailormade adventures to Canada and Alaska, I have always been keen not to just sit on the beach. From kayaking with whales in Alaska to dog-sledding in Lapland I thought I had most things covered. So what did I do next? Of course! Attach myself to a massive kite and be pulled across the water fast enough to make my eyes pop out. Fantastic!

MARCUS (OWNER)

Having worked in the adventure travel industry for 10 years I took the plunge in January 2001 and started out on my own with the launch of Scubasnacks, a diving specialist travel company. A very tenuous and nervous beginning soon lead to a very rewarding and successful operation.

Then in January 2002 I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to take over Planet Windsurf, or at least what was left of it after its parent company hit trouble after 9/11. Since then Planet have developed into a very special programme in which we take great pride. I do not think it arrogant to say that we have a really first class team here, which together with a passion for the sports and extensive travel industry expertise, I believe to be the key to our continued success.

I have travelled extensively from an early age with a particular enthusiasm for the African continent. I have also been fortunate enough to visit many really amazing kitesurf spots around the world among which are Egypt (Hurghada, Safaga, Marsa Alam and Dahab), Canary Islands (all over), Sal in Cape Verde, Brazil, South Africa and Venezuela. Later this year I hope to visit Western Australia which I am very excited about !!
